Dreaming of buying property in France?

Angie and John, property owners in France, fit a weekly 2-2-1 lesson into their very busy week and are converting a village schoolhouse not far from Alençon. They have invested time in making good friends with their neighbours and the Maire in their village and are getting more involved in local events, consolidating their French with every visit to the boulangerie, magasins de bricolage and their local restaurant. They want to learn useful, practical French that suits their activities when they go over to improve the property.

“Kathi has a student-led class and we learn what interests us in a calm, friendly environment. ”

A place in the sun

Linda, Steve and Scamp live part of the year in Hythe and spend the rest of their time in South-West France where they have a property in a small village. Linda studies in a small group with a French teacher when she is in France and comes to me when she’s back in England. During lockdown, we started learning online and that now continues for most of the year.

“I live half the year in France and the other half here. I really enjoy learning French with Kathi. The content is just the right level for my ability and I appreciate being able to restart lessons when I return from France. ”

Becoming locals

Christine and Andy prepared well for their retirement in France by having lessons with me for a few years before living the dream and moving full-time to the south of France. They combined personalised 121 lessons with attending an Advanced level group.

“We could not have coped in France without Kathi’s excellent French teaching. She has helped us, not only to converse with our French neighbours (and hence to become part of the French community), but also with the terminology for banking, insurance, repairing the roof, going to the doctor, what to do in the case of a road accident and even the intricacies of speaking to France Telecom about internet connections. She is ever-patient and good-humoured and never makes us feel as though we were back at school! Merci beaucoup et bravo, Kathi”
